The effect of low-frequency electromagnetic field on human bone marrow stem/progenitor cell differentiation

Disclaimer: this research study’s copyright belongs to the authors and PubMed and not HealthMatReview.com, further details below.

Our Summary

Skeletal stem cells (hSSC) have the ability to recreate cartilage, bone stroma and marrow adipocytes. They belong to a population of progenitor cells namely, the human bone marrow stromal cells (hBMSC). Exposure to electromagnetic field (EMF) stimulates differentiation of SSCs/BMSC, resulting to improved osteogenesis and chondrogenesis while not having side effects. This review aims to discuss the EMF parameters that are effective for hSSC/BMSC differentiation and how they are utilized in clinical trials.
