Effect of Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields on Clinical Signs and Quality of Life in Patients with Hemophilic Arthropathy of the Knee Joint: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Our Summary

Due to the severe joint damage and quality of life (QoL) impairment caused by hemophilic arthropathy (HA), this study aims to investigate the effects of PEMF on patients with HA affecting the knee joint. 36 patients were divided into a placebo group and the PEMF group who received 2 Hz, 25 G for the 1st 30 min and 70 Hz, 30 G for the 2nd 30 min treatment. Results showed significant difference in QoL and pain intensity compared to the placebo group. This indicates that PEMF can improve pain intensity, QoL and clinical signs of HA patients.
