Our Summary

This study aims to investigate the effects of extremely low frequency electromagnetic field (ELF-EMF) on apoptosis in acute stroke patients. The patients were divided into a ELF-EMF group and a control group. The ELF-EMF group was exposed to 40 Hz frequency and 5 mT intensity treatment. Results showed that ELF-EMF exposure increased expression of BAX, CASP8, TNF?, and TP53, which suggest that stimulating pro-apoptotic genes activates signaling pathways connected to brain plasticity process.
