Our Summary

To investigate the effects of extremely low-frequency pulsed electromagnetic fields (ELF-PEMF) on human breast carcinoma cells (T47D), is the objective of this study. Cultured cells were exposed to 100 and 217 Hz frequency and 0.1 mT intensity ELF-EMF for 24 – 72 hours. Results show that at 217 Hz ROS significantly increased compared to 100 Hz with no symptoms of apoptosis, indicating that EMF effects may only be evident at certain frequencies or intensities.
