Pentoxifylline and electromagnetic field improved bone fracture healing in rats

Our Summary

Evaluating the effects of the combination of phosphodiesterase inhibitor pentoxifylline (PTX) and electromagnetic fields (EMF) on the healing of bone fractures is the objective of this study. A total of 80 rats were divided into 4 groups comprising of control group with no treatment, PTX treated group, EMF treated group and a PTX and EMF group. Results showed that the combination of treatments had no significant effect on bone fracture healing but both had beneficial effects when used individually.
