Our Summary

Patients with leg length discrepancy or short stature has longed for non-pharmacological treatment options. This study now aims to evaluate the effects of PEMF and low intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) on limb lengthening. A total of 153 patients across 7 studies were used for this review. Results suggest that both LIPUS and PEMF decreased bone healing time. But there was a high number of complications that occurred in the process attributed to additional bone stimulation.
