Effects of low-intensity pulsed electromagnetic fields on bone microarchitecture, mechanical strength and bone turnover in type 2 diabetic db/db mice

Our Summary

Previous studies proved that PEMF exposure has beneficial effects on osteoporosis stimulated by estrogen disuse and deficiency. But due to the lack of PEMF studies in relation to type-2 diabetes and osteoporosis, this study aims to evaluate its effects on both. Leptin receptor-deficient mice was exposed to PEMF with 15 Hz frequency and 20 G intensity for 12 weeks. Results suggest that PEMF enhanced bone quality and quantity for mice with type 2 diabetes.
