Our Summary

There are 2 objectives that this study aims to evaluate on the effects of transcranial pulsed electromagnetic fields (T-PEMF), first, on the movement speed and functional rate of force development, second, if the effects depend on baseline motor performance. A total of 97 patients with Parkinson’s disease received either placebo treatment or T-PEMF with 50 Hz frequency using squared bipolar pulses. Findings show that T-PEMF had powerful beneficial effects compared to placebo on functional rate of force development. Also results suggest early stage treatment would be more effective.
