Our Summary

The objective of this study is to investigate the effects of EMF on purinergic receptor P2X7 and its potential in osteoporosis therapy. Human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (h-MSC) were exposed to EMF and P2X7 expression was observed. Results suggest that during osteogenic differentiation, EMF exposure increased P2X7 expression by h-MSC, activating Akt/GSK3?/?-catenin axis and stimulating osteogenesis. This is a promising result for osteoporosis therapy using EMF.
